Closed

Between deadlines at work and keeping a gym routine, I have been able to avoid the mall during lunch breaks. Imagine my surprise when I saw this.

Right beside is this.

At the end of the corridor...
Whew! Just under renovation.

Across that is...
Another store under renovation.

Lastly, the saddest picture (to me). This used to be my favourite Tristan branch. No more brick-and-mortar in BC but their head office promises online service (fingers drumming and holding breath).

The big dollar store has closed down too. Sometimes, January is just not the time for bargains, huh?

Jacob camel dress

I wanted to post this dress while it was in stores. I love the simplicity of the design.

Jacob camel dress XS $89

Earlier this year, Jacob brought this dress in black. It was a tad long in the torso so even if it would have made a good LBD, I had to pass. A month ago, I spied it again in the stores but this time, it is in camel. Since camel shades has been catching my eye lately, I had to try it on. It fit much better than the black one! I mentioned this to the SA and she brought a black one from the storeroom. I tried the black on and sure enough, it was cut longer in the torso than the camel. Weird.

The only thing that bugs me a bit is the little bump at the bottom of the zipper. It will probably straighten out after a few more wears.

I'm debating on whether to take up the hem or not. Hubby said to leave it but I don't know if he is just trying to save money. What do you think?

Here is a closeup of the Amrita Singh that I bought off Annie from Really Petite. Love!

Thank you for stopping by my blog and for my fellow Canadians -- Happy Thanksgiving!

Jorts, whorts and mube

The sun came out today here in usually wet Vancouver. I took advantage and wore an old sleeveless Jacob dress.

Everything is rushed in the mornings so these were taken at the end of the day. I don't think we can duplicate the lighting effect here. As you can see, a full day of sitting in front of the computer is evident on the skirt of my dress.

I had the top portion of the dress taken in. The lady who fitted me suggested padded bras. I had to press my lips tightly closed to stop from laughing. I would have to wear two or three padded bras on top of each other to fill it out.

Yes, it has functional pockets.

Many, including me, look through the newspaper for the Word of the Day. Today there was an interesting article about words used by five percent of the population. I think they are referring to fashionistas and personal shoppers - either one I am not. I am familiar with jeggings but have you heard of swacket? It is a combination of sweater and jacket. Here are other words I've learned today:

Spants - harem pants
Jorts - denim hot pants
Whorts - winter shorts
Mube - maxi tube dress

Apparently, the Oxford English dictionary has been updated to include "jeggings" and "mankini."

Am I the only one who hasn't heard of these words before today?
