Twirling fun

There is a Dynamite clothing store near work so I dropped in. For my taste, they are geared for younger fashionistas. BUT -- I've read somewhere to try things coz you never know! I was drawn to this pretty purple pleat skirt for $8.

It also comes in a bright coral. The hemline is shorter than I am used to. I have been looking for this purple in tops which would go great with my existing red skirt.

The waist is elastic and doesn't look good on me without a belt. I have wide hips so I have to wear it low if I'm to avoid extra poofing. So fun to twirl in. My daughter saw me and she had to try the twirl. She said "Mommy, you're not fat. This skirt almost fits me." (Excuse the tshirt as it was a quick try-on before making dinner.)

It's good that I'm blogging this. I think I have made up my mind on whether to keep.

Have you tried this skirt? Shall I keep this?

  1. Oooh I really like that skirt! Shorter than what I'm used to as well, but really for that price? What a fun skirt for the weekend! I haven't been to Dynamite in FOREVER!!! I think I will have to check it out. I wish more Canadian stores had online shopping though. I'm so lazy to go to malls these days!

  3. I love the skirt!! I wish we had a Dynamite - I will have to go next time I visit Vancouver! I think you could make it more sophisticated by wearing the (same) belt with a white button-up blouse tucked-in. (Roll up the sleeves of the button up and leave it buttoned a little to make a deep V.) You can also wear a fitted turtleneck in the cooler months. I think woman of any age can shop at 'younger' stores - the trick is to know what pieces work for your age and how to style it! :)

  4. Looks very cute! Nice color too and very on trend. I prefer the 2nd way you wore it since the tee is more tucked in and it's simplicity suits that preppy look with the pleats.

Re: your comment, I use a PC! Thanks for visiting my blog btw :)

  5. Thank you ladies for visiting my blog. I'm learning from all of you.

@Finley: I was leaning towards returning but I think I'll try your suggestions first. Will have to skip the tneck as it gets very warm in my office.
@MizzJ: I love the color too that's why I was on the fence about returning. You're right - it is a trend and for the price, it doesn't hurt to throw away after the season.
